Silver City: Aspen's Newest Mountain Saloon

December 22, 2017

There is no shortage of watering holes in Aspen. From dives to lounges, every taste can be satisfied here. This past weekend marked the opening of a new place for Aspenites to hydrate after a day on the mountain: Silver City Mountain Saloon.

Located in the basement of the historic Elks Building at 220 South Galena Street at the corner of Hyman Avenue by the edge of the Pedestrian Mall, Silver City is both a drinking and live music destination. The grand opening on December 16th featured a performance by Zac Charles and The Red, country crooners from Tillamook, Oregon. Though underground, the space is large and accomodating, taking advantage of every available piece of real estate. Once you step inside, you will feel like you have been transported back to the Old West. Play some pool, watch your favorite game on one of the many flat screen televisiosn, or just enjoy the ambience. The staff will truly make anybody feel at home here.

Small bites like the Trail Mix Trio and homemade pretzel sticks, as well as larger plates like their charcuterie board and applewood smoked turkey sandwich are the perfect food menu addition to their extensive liquor and drink selection. Kick back with some house whiskey or one of their bourbon, rye, or vodka cocktails. The bar staff will be happy to help you figure out the best drink for you to enjoy. Large groups are welcome, too: whether you are a wedding reception, birthday party, charity event, or something else entirely, private parties of up to 50 guests can book the Aspen Room and larger gatherings can reserve the whole venue.

Make sure to head underground and visit Silver City next time you need a drink in Aspen. The cocktails are exactly what any skier needs.
