November 28, 2017

Aspen, Colorado is the perfect winter getaway. Known for being the home of four world-class ski mountains—Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass—it also features a charming downtown and plenty of other activities outside of skiing and snowboarding. It is easy to be enchanted by the brick Victorian Era buildings and cobblestoned pedestrian mall. There is something for everyone in Aspen. When you aren't tearing up the mountain or sliding down the bunny slope, the activities below are sure to entertain the kids in this picturesque alpine community.

T-Lazy-7 Ranch Snowmobile Tours

Nestled outside of town in the White River National Forest, T-Lazy-7 Ranch leads snowmobile tours throughout the winter. A packed lunch and hot cocoa is included in some tours and no experience is necessary to enjoy a ride through the mountains around the Maroon Bells and Pyramid Peak. Be sure to reserve your tour early as spots fill up quickly through the season.

Aspen Carriage and Sleigh

Enjoy a leisurely ride through snowfields and open space with one of Aspen Carriage and Sleigh's majestic draft horses. With cozy blankets provided, it is the perfect treat on a cold winter night in the mountains. While intended for families, they are also available for large groups and special events including weddings, reunions, and retreats.

Krabloonik Mountain Dining and Dogsledding

Wander through the mountains with 8-10 Alaskan Huskies on this unique backcountry adventure. Krabloonik offers morning, afternoon, and twilight rides throughout the day and each includes either a lunch or apres sampling at their restaurant in Snowmass. The pristine views round out this once in a lifetime experience.

Snowmass Tubing

For the downhill adrenlaine junkies, Aspen Snowmass offers tubing facilities at The Meadows at Elk Camp in Snowmass. From late December to April, kids and adults alike can speed down the carved out lanes for two hours for only $49. Extended hours for Ullr Nights on select Friday nights keep the party going for the night owls looking to stay up late.

Ice Skating

With two different ice rinks to choose from around town, ice skating is a popular winter activity in Aspen. Between the Aspen Ice Garden and the Lewis Ice Arena, kids can take private skating lessons, glide around during public skate, and learn to figure skate and/or play ice hockey.
